Pula, the largest city and port on the Istrian Peninsula on the northern Croatian Adriatic coast, has a remarkably long history. Pula’s most famous sight is the sixth largest Roman amphitheater in the world. Locally called Arena, Pula’s amphitheater was built during the 1st century AD and completed under the reign of Emperor Flavius. There are other remarkable sights arounfd Pula such as the Arch of Triumph of the Sergeii, as well the Temple of the Augustus to mention just some. Historical attractions aside Pula is a busy commercial city on the sea that has managed to retain a friendly small-town appeal.
