A number of the world's leading cruise companies have successfully resumed operations on the Adriatic Coast this summer calling at ports in Croatia and Montenegro for the first time since 2019. The return to operations for these cruise companies in Croatian ports has had a significant impact on tourism in coastal cities and towns as they recover from the impact of international travel restrictions.
Ships called at ports from Rovinj in Istria to Dubrovnik in the south with thousands of passengers enjoying Croatia’s breathtaking scenery, delicious cuisine and historical sites.
As a leading shore excursion provider in the region, Adriatic DMC has been responsible for delivering ground operations for eight cruise companies between July and September: CroisiEurope Cruises, Ponant, Rivages du Monde, Saga Cruises, SeaDream Yacht Club, Silverseas Cruises, Viking Ocean Cruises and Windstar Cruises.
Managing director at Adriatic DMC, Srdjan Kristic says, “Being able to welcome back so many cruise companies to Croatian ports this summer has been a pleasure to say the least. This was no small feat and is testament to our partners' commitment to their passengers and faith in our professionalism.
Adriatic DMC developed a full suite of Covid-19 protocols covering all aspects of ground operations for its suppliers and staff to ensure the safe delivery of shore excursions for cruise passengers.
“Our operations team worked hard to ensure that all suppliers in destination were fully prepared for 'the new normal' and the result has been a smooth and successful season. I'm confident that more of our cruise partners will add Croatia to their 2022 itineraries as a result. “
Croatia welcomed over 10 million tourists in the first eight months of 2021, an increase of 42% based on the total figure for 2020.
