Adriatic DMC Secures Travelife Certified Sustainability Status

Leading regional destination management company (DMC), Adriatic DMC has received the Travelife Certified award in recognition of its long-term efforts in sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Adriatic DMC Managing Director, Srdjan Kristic says: “Achieving certified status is significant for the company’s development. We know that for international outgoing tour operators, working with responsible DMCs is a priority and we’re delighted to now be able to fill that niche in Croatia.”

Adriatic DMC had to comply with more than 200 criteria, related to its office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife standard covers the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights, and labor relations; and is formally recognized as in full compliance with the UN-supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.

Operations Director, Ivan Gavranic who led the team through the certification process, says: “We’re committed to providing the best possible experiences for our clients in Croatia and neighboring regions, and part of that includes operating responsibly in our communities.

“We are proud that Adriatic DMC is only the second company in Croatia to have reached a Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) accredited certification and will continue to promote sustainable practices to our suppliers and partners.”

Adriatic DMC achieved Travelife Partner status in October 2018 and immediately began working towards certified status.

Naut Kusters, general manager for tour operators at Travelife remarked: “I am delighted to see that sustainability in the tour operator sector is obtaining momentum. The award for front runner Adriatic DMC will inspire other companies Croatia to follow the same path”.

Travelife, established with the support of the European Commission, is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector. More than 35 national travel associations promote the scheme to their members including UHPA, the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies, ABTA, The British Travel Association and PATA, the Pacific Asian Travel Association. In 2017 Travelife for Tour operators reached accredited status from GSTC.
