Adriatic DMC is taking part in the EU-funded SUSTOUR project to develop an accreditation system for shore excursions as part of its ongoing commitment to improving the sustainability of its business practices. SUSTOUR aims to improve the sustainable management and performance of tour operators and is co-funded by the COSME program of the European Union.
The company was selected by project partner UHPA (Croatian Association of Travel Agencies) to represent Croatian businesses at the project's first study trip and European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations (ECTAA) Sustainability Committee meeting in Amersfoort last week.
The meeting brought together national tour operator associations and representatives of travel industry SMEs (small to medium enterprises) from Austria, Croatia, Finland, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, and Sweden together to hear about best practices from Dutch tourism organizations. Attendees were able to discuss industry hot topics and share insight on effective strategies surrounding sustainability, as well as identify key priorities at a European and national level.
Marketing and project manager at Adriatic DMC, Kim Butigan commented, "Taking part in the SUSTOUR shore excursion program is a key action in our sustainability plan for 2023. Attending this meeting and study trip has provided us with a wealth of ideas that will inform our strategy moving forward, and crucially, improve our services and their impact in our communities."
